Ruth Marsiliani, Myofunctional Therapist

Ruth Marsiliani is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU College of Dentistry. She is a Neuroscientist and Myofunctional Therapist. Ruth is also a national and international speaker on the subject of sleep apnea and Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, to both dental and medical professionals. She is active in research in the fields of infant sleep, cognitive and motor development, and obstructive sleep apnea in adults. Most recently, she presented her research at the International Conference for Infant Studies.

In addition to her work as a researcher, Ruth co-authored a chapter in Sleep Disorders in Pediatric Dentistry and has published research in the Journal of Genetic Psychology. Her specialization in Myofunctional therapy was achieved through the comprehensive courses taken at the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, the International Association of Orofacial Myology, and advanced Myofunctional Therapy courses in South America and Europe. As a Neuroscientist, she has a background that includes observations in sleep, the sleep behavior of infants, and reading sleep studies and actigraphy. Ruth was trained by the world-renowned Patrick McKeown in Buteyko/ Breathing Re-education and was the first Buteyko Fellow in NYS. Additionally, she is completing a postgraduate master’s degree in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.

Ruth is a founding member of the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences, a Fellow of the Buteyko Professional International, and a past faculty of the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
